Folk art and antiques by Maureen Wlodarczyk
Welcome to pastforward.wordpress.com, a site for lovers of Americana, antiques and contemporary folk art done in the traditional style. We will be sharing pieces for sale along with items previously sold…..an archive of things we have had or did in the past.
Our antiques for sale will be focused primarily on miniatures (salesman samples, child-sized, doll-sized and dollhouse-sized), antique dolls (primarily 19th century papier mache dolls) and related items such as antique doll clothing.
We will also feature antique items that have been “reclaimed”…..meaning that they were in a very comprised condition when we rescued them and were restored to give them a well-deserved new “life”. (To paraphrase an old caveat: No harm was done to their “antique” value as the result of our rehabilitation…….as these pieces were rough and beyond such concerns.)
Our painted folk art pieces and reclaimed antique pieces will be the work of folk artist Maureen Wlodarczyk and will be clearly distinguishable from the antique pieces in original, untouched condition. Maureen dabbles in various folk art areas including pet portraits (done to order for you in various sizes – framed and unframed as you choose), landscape paintings including those of historic houses like Mt. Vernon and Monticello, scherenschnitte paper cuttings, hand-painted silhouettes, painted boxes (miniature chests and bandboxes) and also grain-paints and sponge-paints her own wooden frames in various colors from ochre to black cherry.
Above, you can see a Georgian “brick” dollhouse that Maureen built and painted. It is about 40″ tall and is a copy of a circa 1830 dollhouse in the collections of Colonial Williamsburg that Maureen much-admired for many years. Maureen considers herself an “amateur” artist who paints for the joy and pleasure it gives her and others. It is an extension of her life-long love of history, antiques, art and genealogy.
Maureen hopes to use this site to share her love of those things and to share her artistic endeavors…..and perhaps sell a few things too!
Hope you enjoy the site (still under construction) and will come back again.

Maureen,
You never cease to amaze me with your talent and abilities. What a wonderful site! I really like how the different pieces come up individually. And the portrait of Benji is adorable!
Hope we can get together soon or at least talk on the phone and catch up.
